The Dream Animation Simulation
Context
UBS is a Swiss multinational investment bank and financial service company. It is with largest Swiss banking institution and the largest private bank in the world with over 71,000 employees.
Challenge
They wanted to create a simulation specifically for the MDs within the business. This simulation needed to test the Managing Director’s ability to run multiple business models, across multiple regions, at three speeds of growth.
The simulation also had to be creative, immersive, and highly challenging to accelerate the maturity, experience and capability of participants
The Solution
Alchemist created The Dream Animations Simulation. This was a fictional global entertainment business with identifiable parallels to UBS.
To begin with participants were provided with information packs that contained P&Ls, market statistics, board requests and HR mandates. They had to show growth across three points in time – financial boom, financial bust, and future digitization.
Participants had the challenge of executing their growth mandate whilst simultaneously engaging in a number of activities and interactions including: managing operations, staff concerns against pay and working conditions, identifying and assessing appropriate acquisition targets, handling a difficult conversation with an investor and managing a significant stakeholder from Parents against Sexism on Screen. Culminating in a series of board presentations with in-the-moment Q&A.
The impact
For this simulation Alchemist received the Global Council of Corporate Universities Silver Award for Business Impact Contributing Programme.
The simulation was deployed to over 500 Senior MDs all across Americas, APAC and EU.
Also UBS asked Alchemist to assist in the assessment component of their university in order to showcase the top 10% of their MD talent.
