Kaplan
Context
Kaplan is a recognised awarding organisation dedicated to providing industry-specific qualifications. Kaplan provide assessments undertaken by lawyers from outside of England and Wales who must qualify as solicitors in order to practice in these jurisdictions.
Challenge
To work alongside Kaplan to support their assessments and supply trained actors to embody the roles of clients seeking advice from solicitors. Also to mark the participants on their listening skills, ability to effectively interact with their clients, and their capacity to establish trust.
The Solution
Alchemist recruited and upskilled actors based on their ability to immerse candidates into real-life scenarios whilst navigating the constraints of complex briefs in a standardised context.
Calibration days were used to ensure that role players who are embodying the same character deliver near-identical portrayals of that character. This is to provide a fair and balanced test to all participants.
The impact
Alchemist assists in assessing over 1,000 solicitors every year. And the format is soon to be rolled out for solicitors from England and Wales as well.
