Communicating Challenge
Context
The Open University is a British public research university, and the largest university in the UK by number of students. The majority of its undergraduates study off-campus. The campus is in Milton Keynes and has 1,000 members of academic and research staff. As well as over 2,500 administrative, operational, and support staff.
Challenge
They faced several internal and external challenges: a fall in student numbers, a rapidly changing political environment, and increased competition.
The Solution
Alchemist created the Communicating Change workshop to empower The Open University Leaders to communicate effectively the impact of change to individuals and teams.
The scenarios were developed with The Open University stakeholders and were modelled on changes participants may have to engage with. These included communicating changes in working methods, job role requirements, and the impact of restructuring.
Alchemist also delivered a two-hour workshops to a group of 60 Senior Team Leaders, plus a wash up.
The impact
Alchemist delivered to over 1,100 participants of The Open University’s wider leadership group.
