High rates of staff induction require effective sales onboarding processes. Faced with inducting 60 new employees every week, Alchemist had the opportunity to support an international telecommunications brand. At the time, they had approximately 50% staff retention. They needed a system in place to improve this. The brand also wanted to ensure new starters were equipped to achieve sales targets, which they had noticed was a challenge.
New Processes for New Hires
With a quick turnaround required – three months, to be specific – we got to work developing a three week Sales Induction project for the client. It was split in to two channels to support the two main functions, each with its own induction programme.
Offering full digital support, Alchemist created all the audio-visual content. We also generated call simulations to help participants practise their sales skills in an immersive setting. In another part of the programme, a Train the Trainer format was adopted. Alchemist taught the client’s internal trainers so that they could train people in-house.

Post-programme, it was evident that the learning had achieved the client’s objectives. Staff retention was boosted to 90%. Further to this, more than 50% of new hires were meeting sales targets.
Off the back of this programme, the client commissioned us to design a further module. This time, they wanted to focus on objection handling both internally and in the context of customer service.
