The Culture and Inclusion Programme
The NHS Kent and Medway Culture and Inclusion Programme was established to address issues of inequality, diversity and inclusion across the Kent and Medway Health and Care system. This programme forms part of a wider strategy to create a happy and motivated health and care workforce enriched by diversity of perspectives, cultures and backgrounds.
This will help provide better patient outcomes. A key programme ambition is that everyone has opportunities and support they need for both career commencement and career progression.
To achieve these targets, NHS Kent and Medway partnered with Alchemist who had specific experience and expertise to create the Aspiring Development Programme for Band 5 Nurses from diverse backgrounds. We co-designed a blended programme including virtual and in-person interactive roleplay scenarios, actor-led workshops and e-learning modules.
The Equality Diversity and Inclusion Award
The Equality Diversity and Inclusion award recognises the efforts made by companies to achieve this critical goal. Judges are looking for initiatives and campaigns that have delivered positive results in terms of equality, staff engagement, recruitment, and retention. It looks for HR practice of the highest standard, from a simple positive action campaign that targets underrepresented groups or, like this programme, a more comprehensive strategy to improve inequality in the workplace. At the heart of this award is a recognition that diversity and inclusion are the key to creating a better workplace and society overall.
