You know what they say, “there’s no rest for the weary.” And wow, have we been weary since the Energy 2050 summit wrapped last week! Not only has our team who attended the event been working hard to showcase Alchemist’s place as the people partner in the energy sector transition to a net zero future, but most of the Alchemist’s in attendance were so captivated by the content of the conference, they’ve been a bit side-tracked spreading the good word about the amazing work UK PLC is doing to secure domestic energy efficiency, sustainability and security, with Scottish Power and National Grid bookending the two day event with standout thought leadership.
We’re writing today to give you a quick recap of our thoughts on both the summit and our sponsorship experience. Spoiler alert: attending the event was exceptional and if you’ve been tempted to come to this event, do it! But first, let’s talk about why we sponsored this year’s event. It all started with two very important questions…
- What could we offer the delegates?
The Energy 2050 conference was the perfect place to learn about how to embrace change through great leadership. Rapid change is happening all around us in the UK energy sector, so it’s even more important than ever for the people in the energy sector to embrace that change and maximise the potential for real and sustained progress.
Alchemist is expert at the transformation of people and often we bring this to life by using actor-led real play scenarios for participants to observe and feedback on what they see. This method teaches the participants how to use human interactions to drive innovation, performance and talent retention, which is in danger of being neglected over the push for technology, investment and deregulation in the sector as the drivers for transformation.
Alchemist aimed to make the most of this conference by giving delegates a taster of how we work with live actors and realplay scenarios to observe human interaction and evaluate it in a safe space.
2. Why Alchemist?
To sponsor the event in a meaningful way, we also needed to sanity check our USP for the energy sector, which we narrowed down to three key points:
- Human skills
Your people are the most important part of your business. They’re the ones with the skills and abilities that make it possible for companies to change and grow. And if you don’t invest in developing your people, change won’t happen. The energy sector is a perfect example. Developing human skills and capabilities is essential to success in this rapidly changing industry. Without it, companies will be stuck in the past, unable to compete in the future. At Alchemist, we support our energy sector clients in developing the people in their business and bring the human element to the change cycle.
- Experience in the sector
We understand the challenges energy sector companies face when it comes to changing and transforming their businesses. We have years of experience delivering learning programmes that help companies build the skills and capabilities they need to overcome these challenges. Our programmes are designed to help employees develop the knowledge and skills they need to make successful changes within their organisations. We also work with companies to help them create a learning culture that supports and encourages employee development. This means that energy sector companies can change and transform through their people, building the skills and capabilities they need to succeed in the future.
- Realplay delivery
At its heart, Realplay is about people coming together to connect and learn. That’s why we’ve developed a delivery format that puts the focus squarely on the learner, creating a safe space for them to practice real life conversations. Our team of actors are experts at creating believable characters and scenarios, and they work with the learner to ensure that they get the most out of each session. The result is an immersive learning experience that is both highly effective and enjoyable. We believe that this is the future of learning, and we’re proud to be at the forefront of this exciting new field.
We knew we were in the right room before we came to the Energy 2050 Summit, but the reflections on our involvement from Alchemist’s lead marketing strategist, Ollie Christophers says it all:
“In all my years of working with event partners, the team at Frontier have been the most supportive, inclusive and professional partners I’ve ever worked with. We have only just begun our role as members of Frontier, but from our perspective, it couldn’t have gone any better. We’d have no reservations in being involved in the Energy 2050 summit again. The Frontier team’s supportive and professional approach makes them a pleasure to work with, and their inclusivity ensures that everyone feels welcome and valued. We’re proud to be associated with such a great organisation, and we look forward to continuing our partnership for many years to come.”
Ready or not, the energy sector is in a state of transition. Technology is evolving, business models are changing and consumer demand is shifting. The way we power homes and industry is rapidly changing too, with renewable energy sources becoming increasingly prevalent. In such an uncertain landscape, it’s more important than ever to have a workforce that can adapt and evolve with the times. That’s where Alchemist comes in. We specialise in enhancing the people element of business transformation, using innovative and engaging delivery methods for our learning programmes. So if you’re looking to future-proof your organisation, get in touch today and find out what we can do to transform the people in your business.
