Undergoing a business transformation, a tobacco giant was seeking effective sales upskilling. The main goal was to achieve a globally consistent approach to sales. With 25,000 trade marketing reps across 120 end markets, this organisation needed help implementing engaging training.

Their focus was to make skill and capability levels visible at a regional and global level. From there, reskilling and upskilling was enabled to support market share growth and overall performance.

Igniting Learners With A Sales Upskilling Academy

Working closely alongside the client, Alchemist designed, developed and delivered a sales upskilling programme. Generating a 10 module sales academy, the programme aimed to enable skill and behaviour building.

To provide the client with a cost-effective, global solution, we used a train the trainer approach. This equipped 120 internal change champions and facilitator guides to deliver key training to new hires. It also meant that they could train existing employees as required for total convenience.

All learning resources, including content and tools, were hosted online with the power of Alchemist learning technology. This gave the client secure storage with the flexibility of being able to access it on-demand.

Through the Learning Experience Platform, they were also able to track learner progress. They had access to reports on various ROI metrics and received clear feedback. All of this worked together to embed opportunities through coaching and mentoring applications.

Sparking Sales Success

The academy proved to be successful with over 95% of learners passing the course. The learning was embedded well, evidenced by the 99% of learners who passed their refresher courses. Furthermore, each region increased its market share. One in particular stood out, climbing to an impressive 95.1% share after the programme.

Overall, the client achieved their goals of upskilling trade market reps for consistent sales and increasing market share.
